Takes two

you
undress the metaphor of me
like i am your poem
and you are the eyes within my storm,
you read me
like you wrote me yourself
slowly and swiftly,
you run your mind
along the contours of my words
and find me between the lines
You divine the depths of me
and the paralells of us collide
Somehow stardust and consequences
aligned

we are like similes
you
and I

    1. Well, I figured if weโ€™re going to get married, I should at least write you some poetry ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ (only half joking).

In all seriousness, means the world you loved this April ๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค

      1. Wait, didn’t we… get married last night or was that merely the sweetest of dreams…? Speaking of which – I posted a song that was on repeat all morning. It was a grey day and I fell head first into it’s delicate heartache and harmonies. I think you’ll like it. Do listen if you have a chance โค

  1. Took my breath away… “and you are the eyes within my storm, / you read me / like you wrote me yourself”…again, I feel I have lived or am living this poem… the question is, does one begin to write oneself again? Or does one allow oneself still to be written….

    Absolutely beautiful, friend ๐ŸŒช๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จโšก๏ธโœจ

    1. Such good questions you ask here my friend – โ€œdoes one begin to write oneself again? Or does one allow oneself still to be writtenโ€ฆ.?โ€ I do not know. But itโ€™s an amazing feeling to be read (inside and out) by someone who truly sees and understands you. Thank you ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Gotta say, these emojis you used – basically, they sum up the entire poem. Iโ€™m impressed!! ๐ŸŒช๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จโšก๏ธโœจ

      1. The feeling is mutual Rachel… and I think you deserve the title of most amazing comment-replier in my present known universe… so compassionate and conscientious… and complimentary. Thank you dear friend ๐Ÿ’œโšก๏ธ๐Ÿ”†

      1. I was going to suggest โ€˜takes threeโ€™ or โ€˜Mรฉnage ร  troisโ€™ but I thought that might be an entirely different kind of poem ๐Ÿ˜‚. Hugs to you too lovely Nadine ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“

Hope you have/are having a lovely day. ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜‡๐ŸŒท

  2. What a fabulous poem, Rachel… the eyes within your storms .. the contours of your words… he who wrote you…
You brought me to my knees. From there your words contour my feelings. The beauty of that stardust outweighs any consequences. Let it be. Whatever it is, it’s gorgeous and your talent can move seas.
Lots of hugs my dearest friend.

      1. You moved seas… time to find the answer in your silences. Actually you know the answer. I am sure you do.
Ah, my dearest Rachel.. I guess I am still under the spell of your magnificent work.

  3. you never cease to amaze and surprise me. upon reading I felt like it was a person who woke up one day and saw her shadow or reflection and the image spoke to her. well that’s how this spoke to me. really good work.

    1. If I never fail or cease to surprise you dear Gina then I am very happy – I think, because there is a lot to be said for consistency and predictability too! I love how youโ€™ve read this, exactly right, to finally see your reflection or shadow, a part of you that you hadnโ€™t seen before. Thank you.

  4. How clever, and beautiful and so moving,
and everything else others have said.
I’ve probably said this before, but you, and a few other glorious writers like Yassy, your poetry is like balm in this abrasive world. ๐Ÿ’š

  5. What an amazing year it has been reading your work, and writing with you. This poem too settles into a shelf of all those incredible works that I read over over and again by you. It’s so tender and beautiful. Thank you.

  6. Oooh Rachel! You wanted me to miss this exquisite love metaphor, or is it a simile? Whatever it is this is such a sensual use of figures of speech. You leave me speechless, my dear friend! BEAUTIFUL โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

  7. I forgot when I read this poem to give you a like and a comment, but anyhow here I am, reading the poem again, because I was playing this song tonight, and the words of your fabulous poem clicked into my mind, so without further ado, here’s the song from the incredible Lisa Hannigan, “Oh Undone” (Then I think you’ll understand why I remembered)

    1. Dear Ivor. Somehow I missed some of the comments I had on this poem. I am so very sorry, thank you for sending me this fabulous song. I hope you are well, Iโ€™ve been less present on WordPress lately so apologies for being late to posts, not commenting as much xo

      2. Hi Rachel, here’s my fav’ song this week, and under the present circumstances, it’s beautifully appropriate, and I play the tune at night just before my head hits my comfortable pillow……. to help sooth my soul…..

    1. Drew. I am so happy you have a date. But, whatโ€™s this about not having a great day. Are you ok? Truth be told, Iโ€™ve been worrying about you, but I donโ€™t want to always be asking you, because I know that can be draining too. But, Iโ€™m going to go ahead and ask, because I care. Sending you love and hugs, many of them.

      1. That feeling….. I wish I could take it from you. That feeling, where the illness feels like it creates a physical barrier between you and everyone else. Even when there are people there. Itโ€™s so fucking lonely Drew. I know that feeling, and i wish I could penetrate it for you.

Your date is scheduled. From now on, take it hour by hour, day by day. Let people help and support you as much as they can. You will get through this, and I know how alone you feel but I also know how much you are loved.

      2. Don’t get me wrong. I have good days too. On my bad days I stay away from blogging. Disappear for a day or too. That is why I arrive late at blog reading.

But today my bad day is my regular blog day which made it more challenging.

Trying to deal with it like you said day by day. I have no other choice.
Thank you for listening. I really needed that. It means a lot. You are a special lady.
I hope you never change. You may be broken, but it’s in such a beautiful way. โ™ฅ๏ธ

  9. A beautiful poem, Rachel!
Because of Lonely, you think of me as a Dream Catcher. Now, because of Lonely, I think of you as Kintsugi. I love the poem he dedicated to you. You are an Inspiring Woman of WordPress!
    Take care, and be well!

    1. Resa, a catcher of dreams, Rachel, kintsugi. Part of why I felt so honored he dedicated that post was because of my admiration of the others (like you) that he has done the same for.

Thank you Resa, and you take care and be well too.

We have both been fortunate to have his light shining on us! We shall both be well!

I just can’t get over this! I love those moments in poetry where everything seems to stop and the artist seems to have turned into the art-form! Love this!
